Hotel Ratings
The hotel rating system used in Mexico does not correspond to any of the systems used in the United States and Canada. We have therefore developed our own sytem, which is similar to the one used by the American Automobile Association. The categories below have been used to rate each hotel in this web site. Ratings are reviewed on an on-going basis and adjusted when approriate. The intent is to quantify, with one number, the location, facilities, service and ambiance that are experienced at each individual property.  A budget hotel with few amenities. Rooms are functional and clean, and include a private bath, telephone, TV and basic furnishings.

An inexpensive hotel, usually with a swimming pool and restaurant. Rooms are functional and clean, and include a private bath, telephone, TV and basic furnishings. Hotels in this category are usually within walking distance to the beach.
A moderately priced hotel or resort, usually with a beach front location, at least one swimming pool and several restaurants. The grounds, landscaping, lobby, room appointments and service are all noticeably superior to a two-star hotel.
A deluxe hotel or resort, with a superior beach front location, an emphasis on luxury and attention to quality and detail in every aspect of the property. Superior grounds, facilities and services are readily apparent.
A world class resort with an exceptional location, award-winning architecture, an exceptionally high degree of service, luxurious facilities and many extra amenities. These properties set the industry standards in hospitality and service that others try to achieve.
